Calvin Echodu’s campaign for NRM Vice Chairperson for the Eastern Region gained major traction this week, as party delegates from Kotido and Abim districts came together to offer their full endorsement during a consultative meeting in Kotido District.
Held at Caritas Hall, the meeting drew enthusiastic participation from local NRM leaders, who rallied behind Echodu’s candidacy and echoed a shared vision of unity, grassroots empowerment, and strong party leadership. The event was part of Echodu’s wider mobilization effort across the Karamoja sub-region.
In his remarks, Mr. Echodu emphasized his deep-rooted commitment to the National Resistance Movement and its mission under the leadership of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. He underscored the importance of engaging communities directly and building resilient party structures that reflect the people’s priorities.
“I didn’t come here just to campaign — I came to connect,” Echodu told the delegates. “Eastern Uganda deserves leaders who are present, prepared, and aligned with the National Chairman’s vision for peace, stability, and inclusive development.”
The delegates lauded Echodu’s approach, describing him as a leader who listens and understands the everyday realities of local communities. His focus on youth, women, and long-term development struck a chord with attendees, many of whom expressed confidence in his ability to represent the region at the national level.
Abim District Chairperson, Mr. Engorok Obin, voiced the sentiments of many in the room: “Calvin is not a stranger to us—he’s a servant leader. We need leaders who stay connected beyond election seasons, and who advocate for real, lasting solutions. We are standing firmly with him.”
The meeting concluded with a unanimous endorsement of Mr. Echodu’s candidacy and a renewed call to strengthen the NRM’s presence across the Eastern Region. Delegates also reaffirmed their loyalty to President Museveni’s leadership and pledged to carry forward the party’s legacy of transformation.
As Calvin Echodu’s message of principled, grassroots-led leadership continues to spread, he is quickly emerging as a unifying force in the race for NRM’s Eastern Region Vice Chairmanship.
