Don Chris, a flamboyant Kampala socialite known for his extravagant lifestyle and love for high-end events, has reportedly escaped to Paris, France, after being accused of defrauding Ugandans of more than 1 billion shillings in a massive job scam.
At the center of the scandal is Skypins Tours and Travels, a company Don Chris founded and led as CEO. The firm advertised widely—on both mainstream and social media—promising lucrative job opportunities in Europe and the United States.
Interestingly, Don Chris issued public disclaimers advising people not to sell their property or take out loans for visa processing, noting that job placements were not guaranteed. He even mentioned that although there might be easier “middle routes,” success was never certain.
Tragically, many Ugandans ignored those disclaimers. Desperate for a better future, they sold their land, borrowed heavily, and depleted their life savings in hopes of securing overseas employment. Their hopes were crushed when the jobs failed to materialize—and Don Chris disappeared.
The Skypins offices, formerly located at Haruna Mall in Ntinda, were once bustling with hopeful job seekers. But in the months that followed, it became clear the entire operation had collapsed. The so-called opportunities were never real, and the mastermind had quietly fled the country.
Reports indicate that each victim paid over Shs10 million, with total losses exceeding Shs1 billion. It is believed that this money financed Don Chris’s escape and is now funding his comfortable new life in Europe, while the victims back in Uganda are left devastated.
Videos of victims have since emerged, showing their pain, anger, and disbelief. Many are now calling on authorities to intensify investigations and bring Don Chris to justice.
But for now, the man once seen flaunting cash in Kampala is reportedly enjoying a luxurious life in Paris leaving behind a trail of broken dreams and financial ruin.
