Ugandans got a fresh reminder to prepare early for the 2026 General Elections, thanks to a live appearance by the Regional Election Officer for South Western Uganda, Mr. Beine Robert, on Tayari West TV. He was a guest on the station’s popular civic education show, #Tusheshure, where he broke down key steps citizens can take to be ready for the elections.
While on set, Mr. Beine emphasized the importance of voter education in strengthening democracy and ensuring inclusive participation. He encouraged Ugandans—especially first-time voters and the youth—to take personal responsibility by registering in time, updating their details, and understanding their rights and responsibilities.
Before going live on air, Mr. Beine handed over voter education materials branded by the Electoral Commission to Mr. Cliff Abeneitwe, the Programmes Producer at Tayari West TV. These materials are meant to support the station’s continued efforts in spreading civic awareness to the wider public. The handover was symbolic of the Commission’s commitment to working with the media as a bridge between institutions and the people.
Speaking during the show, Mr. Beine noted that civic education must go beyond election season. He stressed that voter awareness is a year-round duty and thanked Tayari West TV for offering a platform that keeps citizens informed and engaged. He called on other media houses to follow suit and partner with the Electoral Commission in building a more active and informed electorate.
The conversation touched on the Electoral Commission’s roadmap to 2026, known as #ECRoadmap2026, which outlines key activities, deadlines, and priorities in the buildup to the elections. Mr. Beine urged Ugandans to follow the roadmap closely, take part in public dialogues, and stay vigilant against misinformation.
As the countdown to 2026 continues, such media engagements are helping bring election information closer to the people—making it easier for every Ugandan to take part in shaping the country’s future. Tayari West TV’s involvement, through #Tusheshure, demonstrates how local media can play a critical role in sustaining democracy.
