Twelve people have been arrested for selling fake tickets to the highly anticipated CHAN 2024 match between Uganda Cranes and South Africa. Authorities say the arrests followed complaints from fans who were duped into buying counterfeit tickets. The suspects were reportedly operating both online and in person, targeting supporters eager to attend the match at Namboole Stadium.
Officials are urging fans to be cautious and avoid buying tickets from unofficial sources. Even some real tickets are being sold multiple times, meaning only the first person to enter the stadium will gain access, while others could be turned away.
To ensure everyone can still enjoy the match safely, CAF has set up fan zones at King’s Park Bweyogerere, Kyadondo Rugby Club, and Masindi, where supporters can watch the game on big screens. Security personnel will also be stationed at the stadium and along major roads to ensure safety and smooth traffic flow.
Authorities have pledged to continue cracking down on ticket fraud, stressing that the safest way to attend matches is through official channels. Fans are encouraged to stay vigilant, report suspicious sellers, and enjoy the Uganda Cranes’ matches without falling victim to scams.
