On 11th August 2025, the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) hosted students from the School of Defence Intelligence and Security in Migyera, Nakasongola District, at Entebbe International Airport. The visit aimed to familiarize the students with border security threats and the strategies used to manage them effectively. During the visit, Maj. Emilio Ebema, the Chief Liaison Officer for Airports, gave a detailed presentation covering important topics such as geo-political factors that affect border security, aviation threats, transnational crimes, and how Entebbe International Airport is divided into security zones.

Maj. Ebema also explained the vital role of intelligence in protecting borders and how different agencies work together to ensure effective border security. After the presentation, the students, along with their instructors and Commandant, were taken on a guided tour around the airport. This tour was coordinated by the UCAA’s Aviation Security and Public Affairs departments, allowing the students to see firsthand how security measures are implemented within the airport.

The Commandant of the School, Col. James Muhumuza, expressed his gratitude to UCAA for the warm reception and valuable knowledge shared during the visit. He highlighted how important such visits are for training future security officers. Mr. Fred Bamwesigye, the Director General of UCAA, welcomed the students and emphasized that the aviation industry is constantly changing. He noted that Entebbe International Airport is a critical entry point for most tourists coming into Uganda, making it a key location for understanding border security.
