Authorities in Luwero District are probing a disturbing discovery after human remains were found at a shrine in Kiryanyoza Village, Nakikoota Parish, Luwero Sub County. The case came to light on the morning of July 31, 2025, following a report to the police.

According to the police, officers received a tip-off around 10:30 a.m. regarding a suspected illegal burial at a local shrine. In response, a team from the Territorial Police launched an immediate investigation and uncovered two burial sites on the premises.

At one location, police discovered a decomposing human body. At another, they found bones and a human skull. The remains were transferred to Luwero Hospital Mortuary for forensic examination to determine the identity of the victims and the cause of death.

So far, two suspects have been arrested and remain in custody. Investigators believe the victims were brought to the shrine by at least two additional individuals who are now also under investigation. While the exact circumstances remain unclear, authorities are committed to uncovering the truth.

Officials have assured the public of a comprehensive investigation and emphasized that those responsible will face justice. Disturbing or unlawfully burying human remains is a serious criminal offense, and the case is being treated with the highest priority.
