In a lively and unifying consultative meeting, NRM delegates from Kasese District officially endorsed Mr. Calvin Echodu for the position of NRM Vice Chairperson for Eastern Uganda. The gathering brought together youth, elders, and party leaders, reflecting a strong sense of purpose and collective support for Echodu’s candidacy.
From the onset, the enthusiasm in the room was evident. Delegates warmly received Mr. Echodu, listening closely as he laid out his vision for Eastern Uganda. He emphasized building strong party structures, promoting grassroots development, and ensuring that leadership remains responsive and inclusive. His humble tone, clear message, and energetic approach left a lasting impact on the audience.
Young people in particular resonated with his message. They described him as a leader who not only hears them but is ready to act on their concerns. The rallying cry of #NewEnergy captured their hopes for a more dynamic and forward-thinking NRM, where youth voices are valued and included in decision-making.
Elders also voiced their backing, praising Mr. Echodu’s respect for the party’s foundational principles and his ability to unify different generations and communities. The shared support from both the youth and elders demonstrated a rare and powerful moment of intergenerational agreement within the party.
A deeply symbolic and emotional highlight of the meeting came when the people of Kasese gave Mr. Echodu the local name “Baluku.” This cultural honor signified trust, belonging, and acceptance. It marked a turning point—Echodu was no longer viewed as an outsider but as one of their own. Moved by the gesture, he thanked the delegates sincerely and promised to carry the name with pride and responsibility.
During his address, Mr. Echodu outlined his top priorities for the region: strengthening local NRM structures, championing youth and women empowerment, and advancing community-led development initiatives. He reiterated that true leadership is rooted in action, unity, and unwavering service to the people.
Accompanying Mr. Echodu was Mr. Umar Ebaat, a respected NRM leader and former aspirant in Soroti City West Municipality. Mr. Ebaat recently stepped down from the race to support Mr. Echodu, explaining that they share the same vision, values, and dedication to serving communities. He affirmed his full support for Echodu’s campaign and encouraged others to rally behind him.
Together, the two leaders emphasized the importance of collaboration, mutual respect, and cross-district unity. They urged delegates to work together in pursuit of shared goals for the betterment of the party and the region.
The endorsement from Kasese represents a significant boost for Mr. Echodu’s campaign. His approach—grounded in listening, inclusion, and grassroots mobilization—is clearly resonating. With broad-based support from both young and older generations, and trusted leaders like Mr. Ebaat by his side, the #NewEnergy movement continues to gain momentum.
Kasese has made its choice clear: they are ready to build together. With their backing, Mr. Calvin Echodu stands as a strong, unifying candidate for NRM Vice Chairperson Eastern Uganda. The campaign moves forward, powered by unity and growing energy.
