Fresh and startling information has emerged surrounding the arrest of former CID spokesperson Charles Twiine, with security sources now directly linking him to exiled activist Kakwenza Rukirabashaija and outspoken government critic Fred Lumbuye.
Twiine has reportedly been in security custody for several weeks, vanishing from public view after a closed-door meeting with Inspector General of Police Abbas Byakagaba at the police headquarters in Naguru.
Initial reports suggested that Twiine’s arrest stemmed from suspicions that he had been leaking classified government information to opposition figures. Authorities fear that his actions may have undermined state security operations.
Now, new intelligence indicates that Twiine was in direct contact with both Kakwenza and Lumbuye—connections viewed by investigators as highly damaging if verified. According to credible sources, Kakwenza is said to have shared a controversial video with Twiine months ago. Twiine reportedly planned to circulate the clip but later urged Kakwenza to hold back, fearing it could jeopardize his political career. In a desperate bid to suppress the video, Twiine is alleged to have paid Kakwenza millions of shillings.
Security sources further allege that Twiine also maintained communication with Lumbuye, though the details of their exchanges remain unknown at this time.
In a dramatic development, Twiine’s home in Kasangati was searched by a combined team of Counter Terrorism and CID operatives on Tuesday evening. His wife, speaking about the incident, said Twiine was brought to the house under tight security around 6:00 PM. “I only greeted him briefly. They didn’t let me talk to him,” she said. “They searched the house thoroughly, and when I asked where he was being taken, they said Kira Road Police.” She added that no items were taken during the search.
Investigations are ongoing, and more revelations are expected as the case unfolds.
