Aijukwe emphasized that “Let’s Go Pesa” is more than just a loan service; it is a transformative solution designed to offer convenience and flexibility to its users.

“With this automated mobile service, we bring convenience to our customers, offering loans ranging from as low as Shs20,000 to a maximum of Shs700,000. Borrowers can repay the loans within 30 days,” Aijukwe noted.

Japhet Aritho, CEO of Airtel Money

Japhet Aritho, CEO of Airtel Money, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating that the service will significantly advance financial inclusion across the country. “With just a mobile phone equipped with an Airtel Money wallet, customers can access the loan anytime, any day, anywhere,” Aritho said, underlining the accessibility and convenience of the service.

“Let’s Go Pesa” is expected to democratize access to financial support, particularly benefiting underserved communities by eliminating the need for traditional banking infrastructure. This service represents a step forward in reshaping Uganda’s financial landscape with an inclusive approach.

The initiative has also received backing from regulatory authorities. Edith Tusubira, the Executive Director of the Uganda Microfinance Regulatory Authority (UMRA), pledged support for fintech innovations that aim to strengthen the financial sector. Tusubira assured that UMRA would continue providing the necessary regulatory framework to foster the growth of such innovations within Uganda’s expanding fintech ecosystem.

The launch of “Let’s Go Pesa” marks a significant milestone in Uganda’s journey towards achieving widespread financial inclusion, offering a lifeline to millions of Ugandans in need of financial support.
