SML News UG and sister companies have welcomed the appointment of Mr.Edrisah Musuuza aka Eddy Kenzo as the Senior Presidential Advisor on Art and Cultural Affairs saying this will impact the on the Ugandan Music Industry positively.
The Chief Operations Officer SML News UG, Liznile Naherya Muyanga said Kenzo is a musician who understands this industry and the issues affecting artists and musicians in the country.
“Him being the President of the Uganda National Musicians Federation, he understands better the issues affecting them as artists and musician and I believe he will now use this opportunity to lobby for resources and any other kind of support needed from government”, Liznile said.
Celebrated musician Edrisah Musuuza aka Eddy Kenzo was appointed Senior Presidential Advisor on Art and Cultural affairs yesterday by the President of Uganda, His Excellence Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
Eddy Kenzo also serves as the President of the Uganda National Musicians Federation, a position he assumed in May 2023. The 35-year-old musician who hails from Masaka District is the founder and CEO of Big Talent. He was the first East African artist to win a BET Award in 2015. It was in the category of the ‘Viewer’s Choice Best New International Artist’. He also made history in 2022 as the first Ugandan musician residing in Uganda to be nominated for a Grammy Award. His nomination was in the Best Global Performance category for ‘Gimme love, collaboration with American singer Matt B.
The news of his appointment came in on Wednesday night at around 10:30pm. Many Ugandans especially musicians looting for the opposition who have been accusing him of having bad leadership of musician’s federation were surprised by the news. Despite the accusations, the Bet Award winner remains one of the outspoken musicians on matters concerning artists in the country.
His fiancé Fionah Nyamutoro, the Female National Youth Member of Parliament and Minister of State for Energy and Mineral Development took to twitter to congratulate him on this achievement.
“Congrats on your well-deserved appointment @eddykenzoficial, proud of you as always” she posted.
On top of winning multiple awards, Kenzo has sold out arenas worldwide including Europe, Asia and Americ. Although he made his first appearance in the music industry with the release of his first song titled ‘Yanimba’ with Mikie Wine, his breakthrough came with the release of his single albums-Stamina and Sitya Loss in 2014. He has since released 6 albums.
