The Uganda National Examinations Board has asked the Heads of Centers to display the list of candidates registered for the 2024 Examinations, for easy confirmation of candidates’ registration status.
In a statement released by UNEB earlier today, the Executive Director Uganda National Examination Board, Dan N Odongo, told the schools to have these registers displayed starting August 12 to October 11, 2024.
“The candidates register should be displayed in the conspicuous place at the school notice board where the candidates are registered, to enable parents confirm the registration status of learners.” Odongo said.
He has urged parents of students whose schools do not possess UNEB centers, to establish where students have been registered and confirm that they have been duly registered.
“This is important to avoid unfortunate scenarios, where students are discovered unregistered at the start of examination period.” Odongo said.
Odongo has further called upon parents of students who are not fully registered but have proof of payments, to report their cases to UNEB immediately for remedial action.
“UNEB shall provide an SMS option on the mobile telephones, during the period of display. One will be required to know the full index number of candidates, go to the SMS options and type, Reg. leave space, put the index number and send to 6600.” He said.
It is incumbent for candidates, heads of centers and parents, to critically analyze the register and confirm the accuracy of the candidate’s bio data.
“Please look out for the following areas; Spelling and order of names, Date of birth in the order prescribed by UNEB (Day, Month and Year) Gender and the right photograph of the candidate which should be visible.” Odongo emphasized.
Schools with UCE and UACE candidates, are required to write amendment requests to UNEB, should there be students whose bio data requires doing so. They should attached copies of National ID or Birth Certificate to the requests.
Schools with PLE pupils, on the other hand shall be required to fill and submit an amendment form provided on the UNEB portal.
