This morning, the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) held a pivotal meeting at Protea Hotel, where seven applicants presented their cases for air service licenses in a public hearing. The applicants, comprising two new entrants and five existing operators seeking renewal, defended their applications before the Board Air Services Licensing Committee.
The meeting marked a significant milestone in Uganda’s aviation sector, demonstrating the UCAA’s commitment to promoting growth and development while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards ¹. The licensing process involves rigorous evaluation, and applicants must provide detailed information on their operational plans, financial capabilities, and technical expertise.
As part of the evaluation process, applicants are required to submit a comprehensive business plan, outlining their objectives, market analysis, and financial projections. This ensures that only qualified and capable operators are granted licenses to provide air services in Uganda.

The UCAA’s efforts to enhance the aviation industry are evident in their recent adoption of data communication technology, improving air navigation reliability and efficiency. This advancement aligns Uganda’s aviation sector with global standards, boosting confidence in the industry.
The outcome of today’s meeting will be eagerly anticipated, as the UCAA’s decisions will shape the future of Uganda’s air services landscape. With the authority’s focus on safety, security, and economic regulation, the country’s aviation sector is poised for continued growth and development.
