Soroti East by-election unites opposition in an unprecendeted way. Uganda,s opposition kingpins Dr. Besigye and the leader of the redcard movement are jointly campaigning for the FDC candidate Moses Attan Okia in Soroti with the NUP supreme Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu.

Dr. Besigye on his third day in Soroti where he is drumming support for FDC,s Moses Attan in the hotly contested race that has drawn political heavy weights from both the ruling party and the opposition.

Kyagulanyi has hailed Attan as an honest and uniting person whose leadership is for the people. He explained that the decision by his party to let the FDC candidate represent all forces of change was well through out.

He vowed to rally forces to rotest the vote emphasising that the electoral commision must let the peoples will be.
Besigye on Sunday eluded police efforts to block him from going to Soroti. His aids were however arrested and detained for a while before the police left.
Kyagulanyi now joins oppostion top cream Elias Lukwago, Nandala Mafabi, Patrick Amuriat Oboi, Alex Mufumbiro, Samuel Lubega Mukaku and Ibrahim Semujju Nganda among others.

NRM,s Secretary General Richard Todwong, Captain Mike Mukula, Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, National Mobilizer Rosemary Seninde, Vice president Jessica and President Yoweri Museveni have been in Soroti to campaign for their Party,s Herbert Ariko.
Its a do or die contest for the two sides.
