Muyanga Lutaaya Quits Balam’s Radio 4, Kungu Joins..

Celebrated media personality Sir Simon Muyanga Lutaaya has resigned from the Ntinda based Radio 4 to concertrate on his member of parliament bid for Bulamoji county in Kaliro district.

The FDC stalwart joined Balam’s Radio in June this year where he has been hosting a show dubbed ‘Gwe Nsonga’ which airs from Monday to Friday between 7pm and8pm.

Former Top TV and Radio Journalist Adam Kungu will effective 1st November 2020 take over as the new host of the show.

Muyanga confirmed this development while speaking to Smlnews.ug. He noted that despite insults from mainly the opposition who attacked him when he joined the radio, he has managed to give platform to various political actors to express their views.

Below is his full statement

I am privileged to have started and named the first political show on Radio 4. I have cultivated a political audience and created space for different political actors to express their ideas. I am grateful to Balam and Radio4 managers for the professional way they handle the radio station, they pay promptly and respect workers. Above all am glad that I walk out today with the same political virginity I entered with contrary to the scorn and insults from many opposition hooligans who attacked me when i joined. My replacement Mr. Adam Kungu is a longtime friend and comrade, a more than perfect replacement, rich in content and networks. I have always enjoyed his rich guest list at his former workplace. I welcome him and urge him to keep professional.

Muyanga is also a former host of the ‘One on One with Tamale Mirundi’ and ‘NBS Eagle’ on NBS TV where he resigned in January 2019 to concentrate on his media consultancy, journalism school in Jinja and agriculture.

He started his journalism career in 1998 as a correspondent for Ngabo and Njuba Times newspapers. Muyanga had a stint at CBS FM before going to Jinja based Kiira FM in 2002 and NBS FM in 2003. He would later return to CBS FM in 2004 before joining NBS TV in 2007 where he served under different capacities until his resignation in 2019.

He was last week nominated to stand for the Bulamogi county parliamenatry seat on FDC ticket. In 2016, He unsuccefully contested for the same seat.

A close friend of Col. Dr. Kiiza Besigye, Muyanga crossed from DP to FDC where he swears his allegiance to date.
