Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has refuted allegations that Kampala is headed for another lockdown.
This, after news circulated by a section of tabloids indicated that the minister of Kampala Betty Amongi revealed government’s intension for another lockdown on Kampala due to the registered COVID-19 community cases in the city.
However, the KCCA’s acting spokesperson Daniel NuweAbine has dismissed the allegations as fake news.
“Please treat it with all the contempt it deserves. Information is through official channels” explained NuweAbine in a tweet.
In March this year, government imposed a nationwide lockdown in a bid to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
However, a number of bussineses have since been allowed to reopen under the set Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) by the ministry of health.
As of today, Uganda has a total of 1,128 COVID-19 cases, 986 recoveries and 2 deaths.
