WAKISO district chair person Matia Lwanga Bwanika has advised fellow politicians to put politics aside as the country deals with Corona Virus.
Bwanika made the remarks last Friday while receiving food staffs donated to the district by KOICA club of Uganda last Friday at the district head quarters.
He hailed the KOICA Club of Uganda for responding to their request to donate some food to the hungry people in the district.
The chair man revealed that Wakiso district has started writing to some organizations in the district to help and provide food to the people saying government food has delayed to reach them.
“We have written several letters to some of our development partners so that they come up and start donating food to our people in the district because people are badly off and I want to thank the KOICA club of Uganda for responding to our request,” said Bwanika.
The president of the KOICA club of Uganda Samuel Mpiira said the club offered maize flour, salt and beans worth 32m to the people of Wakiso district.
Mpiira called for other development partners to come up and donate food and other essentials to the people and save them from suffering saying the problem will come to an end.
Wakiso district Community Development Officer John Kyejusa pointed out that the donations were to be distributed to people with disabilities, single mothers, and other vulnerable groups of people in Wakiso district.
However, Kyejusa got into crossroads as the donations were supposed to be picked by the community development officers from different parts of the district but residents from the nearby areas of the district gathered at the district head quarters to receive food.
This forced him to cater for them and at least each of them went away with an item.
