At least 201 bicycles will be distributed to village Chairpersons in Bunya South Constituency of Mayuge District.
This in response to their call for support to their mobility aimed at mobilizing their communities to engage in government programs.
On Saturday, February 18,2023 Mr.Gideon Salekwa the Chairperson of Buluta D in Malongo Subcounty cried out to the Speaker of Parliament Rt.Hon Anita Annet Among to ask government to give them bicycles for community mobilisation.
Salekwa said he had served as village Chairperson for 16yrs but no such support had been given to aid his work. He also asked the Speaker to prevail over government to end the harassment of fish communities by security organs.
At the mammoth gathering for the thanksgiving ceremony of Hajji Idd Isabirye, the Bunya South Mp,Among gave Ugx 5m to Mr.Salekwa Gideon and promised that her office would give bicycles to all LC1 Chairpersons in the area. The Speaker also assured the fishing communities that there will be no more torture on the lakes after the passing of the new Fisheries Act.

She vowed that Parliament will address all issues in the way of the education and emancipation of girls stressing that communities must free the girls to enjoy their rights and achieve full potential.

Idd Isabirye ousted Robert Ntende who represented the area in the 10th Parliament. Isabirye had represented Bunya South in the 9th Parliament.
He is a down to earth person, a darling of many and now the central rallying politician for the region. He is the current chair of the Busoga Parliamentary caucus and Vice chair of the Parliamentary Muslim caucus, an accountant by profession and a ruling party NRM flag bearer for the last 15years.
