A joint security team last night shot and killed a robber in action at Nakulabye.
According to Luke Owoyesigyire the Kampala metropolitan deputy police spokesperson, information was received by Old Kampala Police Station of armed robbery taking place at Nakulabye Zone 8, Rubaga Division, Kampala.
He says foot patrol team comprising of Police and Local Defence Unit personnel was then dispatched to the scene.
“The officers found one Abraham Otim in action robbing people. The team warned him several times to stop and surrender his gun but he refused prompting the security team to put him out of action” explained Owoyesigire in a statement released this morning
The police mouthpiece says investigations have established that Otim was a guard attached to SWAT security company. He was guarding Capital Forex Bureau in Nakulabye, which is about 1 KM from where he was robbing people.
“We have interacted with two victims, Dan Yakuze whom he found in his house and robbed, and one Isma whom he beat up badly and forced him to open his shop.
Fortunately, the response team found him in action robbing Isma” Owoyesigyire says
He notes that exhibits recovered from the scene include a bag containing items that had been robbed from Dan Yakuze , SAR rifle with 04 Rounds of live ammunition.
According to Owoyesigyire, Otim’s Body has been delivered to city mortuary for postmortem as investigations into the matter continue.
