The Electoral Commission (EC) has extended the period for conducting nomination of candidates for Local Government Councils Elections 2021.
The exercise which commenced on 21st September 2020 in all the 146 districts/cities across the country was scheduled to end today the 1st of October 2020.
However, the EC has extended the exercise for four more days a decision it says has been taken due to high numbers of aspirants at the nomination centers.
“The exercise will continue up to Monday 5th October 2020 after which, there will be no further extension” said Justice Simon Byabakama the EC boss.
He says the nomination exercise will continue to be conducted at the desiginated venues beginning at 9.00 a.m. and ending at 5:00pm on each day.
The nominations are for district/city chairpersons and councilors, municipality/city division chairpersons and councillors as well as subcounty/town/municipal division chairpersons and councillors.
