5 NAMES THAT WILL DELIVER BUSOGA FOR M7 IN 2026

It is widely being spread and debated that Busoga Sub- region will shun President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in the 2026 elections if Rebecca Kadaga who has been ejected from NRM’s top organ, the Central Executive Committee is not in charge.

Speaker of Parliament Annet Anita Among humiliated Kadaga in a 92.8% against 7.2% vote at Kololo respectively. This was unprecedented in Kadaga’s political history. Since then, emotions have been running high in the region with rage towards Museveni and the NRM government for being ungrateful to a woman who has sacrificed and served decades of ‘’loyalty’’.

Kadaga’s loyalists are convinced, the NRM and Mr. Museveni will perform poorly because of her loss of a CEC slot. They forget that even with her in full control, Museveni lost Busoga in 2021 to Robert Kyagulanyi who even defeated Museveni in Kadaga’s own courtyard Kamuli. Despite being heavily funded, Kadaga’s resources have been for her own mobilization and support to her loyalists irrespective of their political affiliations. She has therefore been selfishly promoting her influence and not the NRM! I can confidently state here that Museveni will win Busoga this time round. I bring you 5 key figures the President will rely on to win Busoga.

  1. Annet Anita Among- Speaker of Parliament 2nd National Vice-Chairperson (female) of the NRM

Mulamu as popularly known has invested heavily in understanding the political dynamics of Busoga and is on top of it. She now has evidenced support from NRM leaders from all Districts of Busoga except Jinja city going by her performance against Kadaga in the recent CEC polls at Kololo.

She’s now the sanctuary of all politicians who have been down trodden by Kadaga during her hey days. If empowered with resources and time, the Muteso will mobilize Busoga for Museveni. Her acceptability in the region is far above Kadaga now, and she has content not political attacks that characterised Mama’s home coming party. Should Anita Among go through unopposed in Bukedea for woman MP as expected, and have time, she will command Busoga and deliver it.

Delegates from Namoyingo in Busoga told AAA at Kololo she was the first leader to consider them important and an integral part in Busoga’s public affairs. They voted for her overwhelmingly.

She was in Namayingo District to campaign for the party flagbearers and donated 90m to youth, women and elderly SACCOs.Namayingo has always been sidelined in politics and cultural matters of Busoga. Only Kamuli mattered.

AAA’s visit therefore was a strong statement. She’s generous and likes sharing compared to Maama. She has already suggested that campaign funding be managed by the leaders of the respective Districts who should be asked for results.

  1. Babirye Milly Babalanda -Minister for the residency.

Not outspoken in Busoga’s characteristic cliques and units of intrigue, the Presidency Minister is a covert but robust mobilizer. Through her office, Babalanda has solicited down to earth cadres, deployed them as RDCS, Deputies and Assistants, set strict key performance Indicators (KPIS) hence capturing the region. Opposition in Busoga is at its weakest because of Babalanda and her RDCs. The era of the opposition ruling media space is no more. RDCs and their assistants are all over the place promoting M7, NRM, PDM.

The noise and emotions are about Kadaga’s venom not growth in the opposition strength. The mobilization for Museveni and government programs like PDM has made Babalanda a critical force to rekorn with Babalanda’s challenge however will be with the fact that she will equally be campaigning for a constituency in Buyende. Babalanda needs resources and time to rally her RDCS to deliver Muzee’s vote.

  1. Hajji Kirunda Farouk – Deputy residential press Secretary and mobilizer.

The most influential public figure of recent, a unifying yet authoritative figure, a very astute mobilizer, and undoubtedly very loyal cadre to Museveni, Kirunda Farouk understands the political dynamics of the region. Kirunda has quietly segmented the region calling out religious leaders, youth, famers, business people, the media and prominent families to reach Mr. Museveni. Just last week MCS, a less significant group met the president and received financial capital of 100m each for 8groups. These have been using the public functions and weddings to scorn Museveni and his government through their jokes. One may not understand how dangerous they have been promoting anti-Museveni slogans and jokes. No more thanks to FK.

He has helped rectify the sugar cane problem, fishing community disagreements, unfulfilled pledges by constantly reminding the president to meet the people. His only undoing is his strict focus is on the Individual Yoweri Kaguta Museveni more than the NRM party, He is well informed, a workaholic well connected. Kirunda is not corrupt, many who know him will tell you so. He will be pivotal in the election. He is a reliable servant always cagy if anything is against Museveni and family.

  1. Balaamu Barugahare – Minister of Youth and Children Affairs.

Balaamu Barugahare himself, a Munyoro is well respected, loved in Busoga. Balaamu understands the region and each individual player in the public space. A down to earth semi- intellectual, Balam can reach everyone, complete any assignments, He speaks Lusoga fluently and often invokes memories of his school times at Namasagali.

He has already been drumming support for President Museveni and NRM flag bearers among the youths. He’s a generous, workaholic, a friend of all including worrying factions. In fact, his only underdoing will be his failure to belong. Balaamu will call Anita Among in one minute and her nemesis Rebecca Kadaga in another addressing both of them respectfully and boldly, reminding them all that what matters is Muzee’s vote. He has been doing veiled PLU mobilization for Museveni with a one Samuel Nabetta a business man. Balaamu can command the youth vote for Mzee better than MAAMA.

  1. Daudi Mpabulungi Migereko, Former MP Butembe constituency and Minister of energy, Trade etc.

A simple man with a simple profile, Migereko is a well-grounded politician in Busoga and the NRM. A former Minister of many portfolios, Migereko has been part of Museveni’s manifesto making committees, done research for the NRM, promoted tourism in Uganda among others. He is a performer of repute.

He is well educated and acquainted with the region, he is influential and experienced.  Time, resources and authority granted, Migereko has regional acceptability and believability. His score card since he took over from Victoria Ssekitoleko as MP has been impressive. Migereko is however viewed as coward in the public eye, he fears to take sides in the region’s power wars and is one of those who only mind about loyalty to Museveni.

Justine Kasule Lumumba – Minister for General Duties, OPM

The very last mobilization kingpin would be Justine Kasule Lumumba, unmatched by all but whatever happened between Lumumba and Museveni has remained a big question in the region. Lumumba is back to manufacturer. Back home I would jokingly say “O Justina Yanyampire Omukama we?

Forget Kadaga, Busoga will vote Museveni overwhelmingly, the liabilities are disempowered, empower the political assets.
