Enough Is Enough!! Kaliro Residents Rise Up, Stage Massive Protest After One Month Without Power

The people of Kaliro Town Council are tired of waiting in the dark. After a full month without electricity, angry residents took to the streets in protest, demanding answers and action. Carrying placards and chanting slogans, they warned that if the situation is not resolved soon, they will storm the district offices to make their voices heard even louder.

Business owners and families are feeling the pain. Many shops can’t operate, students can’t study at night, and people feel unsafe moving in dark neighborhoods. Residents say they have been patient for too long, but now they are fed up with the broken promises from both local leaders and the Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL).

While the exact cause of the blackout in Kaliro remains unclear, similar problems in other towns have been blamed on vandalism of power lines, very old electric poles, and damage caused by heavy rains. Whatever the reason, Kaliro residents say it’s no excuse for a month of total darkness.

The protestors are not just asking they are demanding urgent action. They want electricity restored immediately and clear communication about what caused the blackout and how it will be prevented in the future. They believe the lack of power is creating insecurity, destroying small businesses, and putting the entire community at risk.

This protest in Kaliro is not an isolated case. People in other parts of Uganda have raised similar complaints about poor service and slow response from UEDCL. For the citizens of Kaliro, however, enough is enough. Their message is clear: restore the power, or face a much bigger storm of anger.
