A top police officer, SP Muhindo Moses from Kwania Police Station, was arrested on 7 September 2025 after allegedly opening fire inside Brunos Bar and Night Club in Aduku Town Council following a quarrel with an unidentified person. Four people were shot and sustained serious injuries in the incident.
The victims are Alani Lusano, 27, shot in the right thigh; Oguta Jasper, 31, hit on the right leg just below the knee; Opio Solomon, 24, shot in the right heel; and Obote Steven, 24, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds on his upper thigh, right leg, and left leg, breaking both legs. All victims are residents of Kwania District, working as peasants, carpenters, and blockers.
Police responded quickly to the scene. Acting District CID Ocan Tom Alfred led a team of homicide and SOCO officers to investigate. The area was examined, photographed, and documented, while statements were recorded from the victims. The injured were rushed to Aduku HC IV and Lira Referral Hospital for treatment.
SP Muhindo Moses was arrested and taken in for questioning. Police recovered a pistol with serial number UG POL 15-CN 022923 51648, which still had four bullets in the magazine and one in the chamber.
The incident left residents of Aduku and the wider Kwania District in shock. Witnesses described panic and fear as bullets flew inside a crowded night club, injuring innocent civilians. Authorities are investigating the full circumstances of the shooting.
A case of attempted murder has been opened under Kwania CRB 319/2025. Police inquiries are ongoing, and updates are expected as the investigation continues. Residents are urging authorities to act swiftly and ensure justice for the victims.
