Police Spokesperson Condemns Alleged Disrespect Towards President in TikTok Video

Ugandan police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke has expressed concern over a viral TikTok video in which President Yoweri Museveni was reportedly subjected to abuse and disrespect. Speaking at a press briefing, Kituuma denounced any form of disrespect toward the President, whether through actions or words.

“It is quite unfortunate for anyone to disrespect the President, whether by actions or word of mouth,” Kituuma remarked, stressing that the presidency symbolizes national unity and should be treated with the utmost respect.

While the exact contents of the video are still unclear, Kituuma acknowledged that it may have escaped his attention, noting that he is an active user of TikTok himself. However, he assured the public that he would investigate the matter thoroughly.

“I will look into the said video and ensure appropriate action is taken immediately,” he said, underscoring the importance of maintaining respect for the office of the presidency.

Kituuma also highlighted that showing disrespect towards the President goes beyond personal affronts, as it reflects poorly on the country as a whole. He urged Ugandans to reject any such actions and maintain a culture of respect for national leaders.

The police are yet to provide further details about the video or any ongoing investigations. However, Kituuma’s statement signals the government’s commitment to addressing the issue and ensuring that individuals who engage in such acts face consequences.
