In a significant shake-up, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has dismissed three top officials from the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) over the Kiteezi waste management scandal that resulted in the tragic deaths of more than 20 individuals.

The Executive Director, Dorothy Kisaka, along with Deputy Executive Director Engineer David Luyimbazi and Director of Public Health Dr. Daniel Okello, have been removed from their positions, according to a press release from State House on Tuesday.

This decision comes as KCCA grapples with numerous challenges, including a deteriorating Waste management and the fallout from the recent Kiteezi waste saga, which has raised serious concerns about public health and safety in the city.

The President’s actions signal a decisive response to the escalating crisis and underscore the urgent need for effective leadership in addressing the ongoing issues facing Kampala. Further details on the circumstances leading to these dismissals are expected to emerge in the coming days as investigations continue.
