Museveni drawn into Namuganza – Speaker Standoff

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has been drawn into egoistic fight between Urban and Housing State Minister Princess Percis Namuganza and the Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among.

Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among.

Namuganza late on Saturday revealed in an interview aired on NBS Television’s “Live at 9” that her husband had reported to the President about threats on his life and that he was living in fear from the Speaker and her husband Moses Magogo.
That the duo accuses Namuganza’s husband also Town Clerk of Makindye Division Urban Council Rwakabale Geoffrey of invalidating their marriage just hours after he had okayed it.

She claims that Rwakabale issued the marriage certificate under duress and hastened to add that the President has directed the Criminal Investigation Directorate to take up the matter and report to him.

Her claims now return to public domain the matter of Anita Among’s marriage to Federation of Uganda Football Association President and Budiope East MP Moses Magogo.
At the height of the blossoming relationship between the two lovebirds, the media carried information that the process leading to the introduction and eventual wedding of the two lovebirds was fraudulent with their haters calling for the rescinding of the marriage.

The story quickly vanished from media spaces until last week when Namuganza whose political career hangs in balance over threats of censure by Parliament alleged that the Speaker was fighting her.
She then threatened to bring to Parliament a motion on the controversial marriage.
She was speaking at the height of anger from fellow legislators who are seeking to censure her over her role in the controversial Naguru – Nakawa land saga.

On the floor of Parliament, Namuganza refused to apologise to the House that now seeks to censure her

In the scandal, Namuganza is accused of ordering for allocation of public land to individuals and companies fraudulently but she denies any wrong doing on claims that she was following a Presidential directive that isn’t evidenced.
It’s a showdown of two great light – skinned female politicians from the east whose closeness to the President could be the bone of contention.
