The Alliance for National Transformation party (ANT) has faulted the Electoral Commission for failing to punish political parties and political figures who are continuing to violate the COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedures.
Gen. Mugisha Muntu the party presidential flag bearer says the commission is keeping silent while the ruling party politicians are defying the guidelines but when it comes to the opposition politicians it acts so fast.
“There are certain SOPs the Electoral Commission put in place to govern the conduct of the elections but we are seeing the ruling NRM party candidates violating them and nothing is being done. We want to know what EC is going to do in regard to those who violate those guidelines” said Muntu
He made the remarks while addressing Journalists following a meeting between the European Union delegation and the party leadership held at the party headquarters in Kampala today.
According to Muntu, the meeting discussed issues concerning the current political situation, the upcoming general elections and matters of regional security, stability and the economy. The leadership also briefed the delegation on the ANT plans for a better Uganda.

European Union delegation led by Ambassador Attilio Pacifici is visiting political parties in the country that are going to take part in the forthcoming general elections.
Last week, the delegation visited the Forum for Democratic Change and is also set to meet the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM)Party.
