Rwanda’s commitment to regional peace was underscored during President Paul Kagame’s inauguration for a fourth term. The ceremony took place at the packed Amahoro Stadium in Kigali, attended by numerous heads of state and government from across Africa, as well as leaders of international and regional organizations.

Chief Justice Faustin Ntezilyayo administered the oath of office. In his speech, Kagame expressed deep gratitude to the Rwandan people for their trust, reflecting on the country’s significant progress over the past thirty years. He highlighted the transformation from a tragic past to a future driven by hope, resilience, and justice.

Kagame emphasized the importance of confronting injustice and highlighted the need for Africa to independently address its challenges. He stressed that true peace and progress must come from within and cannot be imposed externally, referencing ongoing issues in eastern DRC.

With about 9 million Rwandans participating in the July 15 presidential election, Kagame secured a landslide victory with 99.18 percent of the vote. His previous terms in office were secured in the elections of 2003, 2010, and 2017.
