“Rumors Won’t Stop Me” Kadaga Defends Her CEC Bid

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Community Affairs, Rebecca Alitwaala Kadaga, has dismissed claims that she was disqualified from the race for Second Vice Chairperson Women in the NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC). Online rumors suggested that Kadaga, the Kamuli Woman MP, had been removed from the race for allegedly using language that could divide the party. Kadaga, however, called these reports false, malicious, and aimed at confusing her supporters.

Speaking to Watchdog News, Kadaga described the rumors as “absolute rubbish.” She expressed surprise that her political rivals spread the news on social media before she was officially informed, calling it a suspicious tactic to weaken her candidacy. She argued that these actions are part of a bigger effort to mislead the public and undermine her campaign.

Kadaga reassured her supporters and party delegates that she is still a candidate and has no plans to step aside for anyone. She criticized her opponents for focusing on lies instead of convincing voters, and promised her team would respond firmly to any attempts to mislead her followers.

In a direct message to her rivals, Kadaga urged them to concentrate on winning delegates’ votes rather than engaging in dirty tricks. She emphasized that she is ready for the challenge ahead and vowed to make her opponents “sweat” as the race continues.

Kadaga, currently serving as Vice Chairperson Women, is competing with her long-time rival, Speaker of Parliament Anita Among. While Among’s campaign focuses on strengthening the party, Kadaga believes her spotless record and proven experience make her the best choice for the position. The rivalry has made the race intense, with Kadaga warning that anyone who underestimates her will face sleepless nights.
