Khalifah AgaNaga Shocks FDC, Declares Bobi Wine His 2026 President

Ugandan musician-turned-politician Sadat Mukiibi, popularly known as Khalifah AgaNaga, has caused a political stir after publicly declaring that Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, better known as Bobi Wine, is his chosen candidate for the 2026 presidential election.

In a tweet that quickly spread across social media, Khalifah wrote:
“Banange MUNWEERE (Please tighten up). 2026 Mr Kyagulanyi is my President. I have seen it all. Banange MUNWEERE.”

This bold statement has left many Ugandans scratching their heads. Khalifah is a member of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), a party that is expected to present its own presidential flag bearer. However, instead of supporting a candidate from within his party, he has openly backed the leader of a rival political party—the National Unity Platform (NUP).

This move has raised big questions: Is Khalifah shifting his loyalty from FDC to NUP? Has he lost confidence in his own party? Or is this a reflection of Bobi Wine’s growing popularity and political influence ahead of the 2026 elections?

In Uganda’s political culture, party loyalty is often taken seriously, especially during elections. Members are generally expected to rally behind their party’s official candidates. Khalifah’s open support for Bobi Wine goes against that tradition and has triggered a lot of online debate and speculation about his next political move.

Khalifah, who previously contested for the Kawempe North seat but lost in the April by-election, has not yet confirmed whether he plans to run again in 2026. His recent tweet, however, shows that he still wants to remain part of the political conversation.

With the 2026 elections approaching, many eyes will be on Khalifah to see what he does next. For now, his support for Bobi Wine has not only surprised his own party members but also added a fresh twist to Uganda’s already heated political landscape.
