President Yoweri Museveni has commissioned 1143 newly graduated young officers and Air Force Cadets at the Uganda Military Academy at Kabamba, in Mubende district.
The young officers and cadets, including 74 women, completed a six-month intensive course.
They were joined by one officer cadet trainee from the royal Military Academy and 52 pilots.
During the commissioning, the president cautioned the young officers against living recklessly by indulging in alcohol and risky sexual behavior.
He said government has managed to secure Ugandans because they handled the issue correctly, including in Karamoja, which initially had challenges.
The commandant of the Uganda Military Academy, Brig. C.M Byaruhanga, said the commissioning was the largest number in the history of UPDF after intake 08 in 2002.
