Uganda Airlines is proud to announce its latest expansion, adding three new destinations to its growing route network. Starting this September 12, 2024.
The national carrier will launch flights to Harare, Zimbabwe; Lusaka, Zambia; and Abuja, Nigeria.
This strategic expansion marks a significant milestone for Uganda Airlines, solidifying its position as a leading regional airline. The new routes will enhance connectivity, facilitate trade, and promote tourism between Uganda and the Southern African and West African regions.
The announcement was made on September 6, 2024. during the 51st meeting of the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority’s (UCAA) Air Services Licensing Committee, held in Kampala.
UCAA Board Chairman Engineer Edward Mike Ndawula emphasized the significance of these new routes for Uganda Airlines and the country’s aviation sector. “The introduction of these routes is a strategic move that will enhance air connectivity, not only for Uganda but for the entire region,” he stated. “We are confident that these new destinations will stimulate the growth of air passenger and cargo traffic, further boosting Uganda’s economy.”
Ndawula has urged licensed air operators to adher to airline cooperative agreement interlining with the Uganda Airline and other international operators to increase air connectivity and stimulate the growth of passengers and cargo traffic in Uganda.
Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA), under Section 6 (2) of the CAA Act Cap. 354 as amended is responsible for the licensing of air transport services.
UCAA also advises the Government of the Republic of Uganda on matters relating to the development of air services such as Bilateral Air Services Agreements (BASAs) and other air transport activities.
Currently, there are twenty-six (26) Ugandan licensed air operators offering the following air services; scheduled passenger and/or cargo, non-scheduled passenger and/or cargo, Private, Training and Aerial Works.
