The Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) has announced that it will unveil the final results of the 2024 National Population and Housing Census on Thursday, October 3, at the Kampala Serena Hotel.<\/p>\n

This follows the release of preliminary census data in June, which estimated Uganda’s population at 45.9 million. According to UBOS spokesperson Didacus Okoth, the comprehensive report will provide crucial insights into how Ugandans are living, what assets they possess, and how they access essential services.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is in line with our census roadmap. The final census report will answer the three questions of how Ugandans are living, what they own, and where they access services,\u201d Okoth stated during a press briefing.<\/p>\n

While the preliminary data focused primarily on population size, distribution, and demographics such as age and sex, the final report will offer a more granular analysis. Okoth emphasized that the forthcoming report will be instrumental for decision-makers in planning and investment, providing statistics that will serve as benchmarks for the next decade.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe final report will contain rich information for planning and investment decisions, offering detailed figures that will be referenced for the next 10 years and for benchmarking purposes in other surveys,\u201d he explained.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Among the critical insights, the report is expected to shed light on mental health, with statistics on the prevalence of mental health issues across the country. Additionally, the report will examine access to education and healthcare services, detailing the distances children travel to reach schools, and provide an assessment of living conditions, including the number of households with permanent structures.<\/p>\n
