This afternoon, Secretary General David R. Rubongoya has addressed concerns raised by the Electoral Commission regarding the name “People Power Front” (PPF). The Electoral Commission had alleged that the name was reserved for another political party, which prompted Rubongoya to clarify the situation.<\/p>\n

In his response, Rubongoya firmly denied any affiliation between the People Power Front and the National Unity Platform, stating that the PPF is not connected to them as suggested by the Electoral Commission in its letter. Instead, he argued that the name was being used by detractors, with backing from state interests.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe People Power Front is not affiliated with us, contrary to what the EC has claimed. It is a name reserved by opponents, supported by the state. We recall that the EC previously obstructed our efforts to register \u2018People Power\u2019 as our own name.\u201d Rubongoya emphasized,<\/p>\n

Rubongoya’s statement addresses a longstanding issue where the Electoral Commission had previously blocked attempts by his group to register the name “People Power.” This move by the EC had been seen by many as a deliberate hindrance to the organization\u2019s efforts to establish its political identity.<\/p>\n
