The High Court in Kampala, has adjourned a case involving 8 National Unity Platform(NUP) supporters allegedly abducted and arrested by security forces until August 23, 2024.<\/p>\n
The case was scheduled for rulling earlier today but the presiding judge failed to appear.<\/p>\n
National Unity Platform (NUP)Lawyer George Musisi expressed disappointment over the delays saying that court was expected to give direction on the judgement.<\/p>\n
“We had come this morning to court for court to give us direction on the judgement on when they will give us judgement. Unfortunately the trial judge couldn’t be here for one reason or the other. We have been asked to come back again next week\u00a0 Friday 23, 2024. On that day, court will give us direction and possibly the date when it will give the judgement” George said”.<\/p>\n
He said they’re not giving up on the fight for justice.<\/p>\n
“Of course the family, friends and relatives of the victims are frustrated that after all this journey, they have not yet got head way on accountability of their loved ones but they will not give up. These people have been seeking justice for their loved ones for a long time now. Some were taken in 2020 and others in 2021. They have since been to different spaces including Uganda Human Rights Commission, some have even had court orders ordering for the release of their people, they have been to police, the army and every where. This matter has been to Parliament, we came to court as the last resort and we will not get tired.” Musisi said.<\/p>\n
