As of yesterday, August 14, 2024, 6 more bodies had been retrieved bringing the total number of retrieved bodies to 34.<\/p>\n
3 year old Moses Owori, Richard Okello 31, Jane Alowo 33, 6 year old Jane Achengi and Hairati Natumya are among 5 retrieved bodies.<\/p>\n
Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Nkunyingi Muwadde, whose constituency covers areas of Lusanja and Kiteezi told Parliament that he had repeatedly warned government of the impending disaster but government did not provide funds for decommissioning the land fill.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn September 2011, I petitioned Parliament and government on this floor. I informed the house and government about the state and condition of the land fill, a few days later, I went to the land fill with the State Minister for Kampala. Water flowing from the land fill had washed away people\u2019s houses. Muwadda said.<\/p>\n
Rescue operations by the Uganda Police Force and other security agencies are still on going.<\/p>\n
