Kabwohe, Sheema District \u2014 Police in Greater Bushenyi have initiated an extensive manhunt for eight suspects who escaped from custody at Sheema Central Police Station. The escape occurred in the early hours of the morning, around 3 am, when the officers on duty were reportedly asleep.<\/p>\n

The police station, strategically located on the Mbarara-Bushenyi highway in Kabwohe town council, now finds itself at the center of a region-wide search. Martial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi Regional Police spokesperson, identified the escapees, each facing serious charges. Among them is Jocknions Akampa, charged with murder; Matovu Hakimu, accused of theft; Aggrey Musika, facing criminal trespass charges; and Ambrose Byamukama, charged with burglary and theft. Additionally, Asingwire Musinguzi, Benson Mpumwire, Ashraf Tugume, and Accum Clinton, all charged with aggravated robbery, are also on the run.<\/p>\n

The suspects managed to flee through a toilet window, exploiting what appears to be a lapse in security. In response to the incident, two officers have been arrested and charged with negligence of duty.<\/p>\n

The police are appealing to the public for any information that could lead to the recapture of the escapees. They have also heightened security measures across the region to prevent any further incidents.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
