The stage is set for an exciting weekend of top-tier volleyball action as the NSSF unveils the 26th edition of Kampala Amateur Volley ball Club (KAVC) International Tournament 2024 a 3 days event from August 2 to 4, 2024 at the Lugogo Indoor Stadium in Kampala. This annual event promises not only to showcase the best volleyball talent from the region but also to foster community health and positive behavior through sports.<\/p>\n
Under the theme “Championing Better Community Health and Behavior through Sports,” this year\u2019s tournament is more than just a display of athletic prowess. It\u2019s a celebration of unity, health, and the spirit of competition that transcends borders. The event will feature elite club teams, both men and women, from various East African countries, including Uganda, Burundi, Rwanda, South Sudan, Kenya, and Tanzania. Additionally, new categories have been introduced this year to include corporate teams and secondary schools, broadening the event’s reach and impact.<\/p>\n
KAVC Uganda President, Irene Kiconco revealed that this year\u2019s edition will feature corporate teams and the involvement of secondary schools, expanding the tournament\u2019s reach and engagement. This initiative not only aims to draw in crowds but also to create an environment where the community can engage in healthy activities and support their local and regional teams.<\/p>\n
\u201cSome of the participating corporate organizations include Development bank Uganda, Centenary bank, URA, NBS, Total energies, Parliament among other stake holders, Absa bank, National water and sewerage cooperation, Uganda cancer Institute, and Housing Finance. I thank NSSF and other sponsors for the continued support towards bringing this tournament to fruition\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Arimi Egunyu, head of marketing and corporate Affairs, NSSF stressed that over the years owing to the fund\u2019s support, there have been great strides emerging from this partnership and the recognition of the tournament as premier volleyball league in the East African region. She added that this exposure has allowed Ugandan teams to engage in top level competition in the region further enriching the skills of local talents.<\/p>\n
