The United States of America will not disrupt her cooperation with Uganda neither withdraw her assistance in health, economic stability and the strengthening of democratic institutions.<\/p>\n
America is a major partner whose contributions across sectors in Uganda generates over 6000 jobs through different local implementing agencies.<\/p>\n
US ambassador William W. Popp remarked during his independence speech in Kampala on July 3 that the US government intends to invest in people through innovation, research, advanced health facilities, agriculture and governance.<\/p>\n
In its public health efforts, the US has trained approximately 100 field epidemiologists through the public health fellowship program while investigating communicable diseases. Huge investments have been made in the fight against malaria with the efforts reaching the most remote of villages in Uganda.<\/p>\n
“In 2023, 185 Ugandans graduated from the Academy of women Entrepreneurs specializing in business, this boosted revenue and employment in communities spurring economic growth in the nation,\u201d said Popp.<\/p>\n
Western allies have sharply criticized Uganda\u2019s moral stance against the LGBTQ+ minorities exhibited in the passing of the Anti \u2013 Homosexuality Act. The US followed with sanctions against state officials here with anticipation the same would be followed with withdraw of aid.<\/p>\n
The US embassy boasts in promoting human rights, advocacy and legal reforms with its support of over 100 civil society organizations through financial support and asylum. According to the Ambassador William Popp 1.7million refugees receive health care, education and other essential requirements with in the refugee camps.<\/p>\n
Besides, 1.4 million Ugandans are receiving HIV\/AIDS treatment through US PEPFAR program and the viral infection has been suppressed to 1.2million.<\/p>\n
