Joshua Laban Musinguzi, Who has been Ag. Head of External Labour Monitoring Unit (ELM), has been appointed as the coordinator for Parliamentary Forum on Labour, Decent Employment and Productivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Parliamentary Forum on Labour, Decent Employment and Productivity , which was registered on October 11, 2021, was put in place with a sole aim to advocate and promote the role of decent employment opportunities and productive labour in achieving sustainable wealth creation through effective stakeholder engagement, legislation and oversight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
it’s among other objectives are to to promote policy coherence to labour, employment and productivity across sectors, effectively undertake a key role in legislating on issues relating to labour, employment and productivity, provide a platform where strategic advocacy and pressure groups can analyze labour, employment and productivity issues and advocate, champion and strategically influence resource allocation for programs that advance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a June 1 letter, seen by this website, Hon. Roland Ndyomugenyi the Chairperson of the Forum informed Musinguzi that he was the successful candidate for the post of the coordinator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I am happy to inform you that after the interviews and the presentation you made, you have been successful,” reads part of the letter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The forum has not had any funding yet, and as discussed, you will be required to generate income through proposals writing, funders identification and any other methods you may employ to bring in the required funding for the forum’s operations and activities,” it adds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ndyomugenyi informed Musinguzi that the forum will begin paying him based on the revenue collected during every month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He will, according to the letter be stationed at the Secretariat Headquarters with travels in and out of the country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We congratulate you on your appointment and wish you a long career with us. We assure you a great journey and full support for your professional growth and development,”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking on this appointment, Laban said he will work with relevant authorities to see that every employee gets decent labor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI will make sure there\u2019s policy coherence to labour, employment and productivity across sectors, Coordinate a platform where strategic advocacy and pressure groups can analyze Labour, but above all decent jobs,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At ELM, he has so far shown practical results with intervening in the affairs of suffering migrant workers and rescuing them from tyrant employers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
