As schools open for semi candidate classes next week, education stakeholders have been advised to adjust in the way they have been operating to be able to deal with the impacts of COVID-19 on the education system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Primary six, senior three and senior five will report on Monday March 1st 2021 adding onto the bunch of candidate classes who are currently studying. Other learners will resume studies later on but in a staggered manner with the academic year expected to end on 24th<\/sup> July 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Edwin Kibuuka Kizito a teacher at St. Savio Junior School Kisubi says schools, teachers, parents and learners need not to spend time questioning how things are going to be done within a limited time frame but to adjust to the new normal if they are to move forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kibuka who has been involved in home schooling via the media during the lock down advises schools to invest in ICT which will enable them to move on the same pace with the others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOne of the biggest changes this pandemic has brought is for us to go into information communication technology. This is the time that we have used the media to reach the children, this is the time that our children have used tablets, Ipads to get in touch with their teachers. so as schools re open, one of the things that the school administrators should focus on is improving ICT in their institutions because that\u2019s the way to go \u201d Said Kibuuka<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was speaking during an awarding ceremony of winners of the \u201cMy Super Lock down experience 2020\u201d held at the African Queen Ltd head offices in Namanve- Mukono district today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The competition by BiC\u00a0was aimed at engaging\u00a0the school going children in upper primary (P4-P7) to share their experience about the new normal caused by COVID-19 and its protocol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Yasin Ssebaduka Mboowa the trade\u00a0marketing manager African Queen ltd,\u00a0the pupils were tasked to write a story explaining their learning, challenges and most importantly the effect it has had on them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe purpose of this consumer promotion was mainly for the brand to support the parents\/pupils through provision of school fees to the children ahead of going back to school. The promotion ran for two months and was televised during the home-schooling program on TV and our digital pages.\u201d Noted Mboowa<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe pupils were marked basing on different criteria including grammar, composition and handwriting. We were looking at originality, the children giving their experiences but we followed the national gauging of what we call free composition writing\u201d Said Edwin Kibuuka Kizito one of the teachers who marked the participants. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The other winners are Andruda Wamungu Victoria a P.7 pupil at Kisubi Boys Primary School, Abigail Shalom a P.6 pupil at Kamuli Church of Uganda primary school, Nasaka Nusurah a P.5 pupil at Emmanuel junior Academy- Kinoni and Atusiimeire Eliane Baine a P.4 pupil at Mbarara junior.
