The National Resistance Movement (NRM) party has refuted claims that the recently concluded Central Executive Committee (CEC) members elections were marred by election malpractices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Addressing press at the Uganda Journalists Association (UJA) offices in Kampala today, Emmanuel Dombo Lumala the director of information and publicity at the NRM secretariat said that last week\u2019s CEC members polls were the most transparent elections the party has had in the recent past.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dombo said this is manifested by the responses they have received from the party supporters regarding the elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThere is no fair losing. Whoever loses elections will find a reason to explain to their supporters or funders why they have lost. But I want to tell you that one of the most transparent electoral processes we have had is these elections we have recently concluded\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dombo added \u201cThe onus lies with those who make claims to provide evidence and for us as a party we shall listen to them and we shall investigate and find out whether there is credibility. But for us we are so happy that what has happened this time is unprecedented\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, Dombo has also denied allegations that the NRM is using government money to fund it\u2019s party activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDuring the last elections, NRM collected about 8 billion shillings from the contestants. This time, we expect the money we are going to collect in form of nomination fees from the various contestable positions to be more. We use part of this money to fund the election activities\u201d Said Dombo<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added that the biggest component of the elections has been printing ballot papers but since they are now using linning up method, that has been cancelled thus making the whole process even cheaper.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
