In the early morning hours of Sunday, July 27th, 2025, residents of Mukono and Wakiso districts were shaken by a series of coordinated violent robberies carried out by an armed gang. Wielding pangas, the criminals began their attacks around 3:00 AM in Nabweru, a village in Goma Division, Mukono District.<\/p>\n
Moving swiftly and under cover of darkness, the gang terrorized residents as they swept through multiple villages. Their trail of violence extended into Kyaliwajjala and Sonde in Wakiso District, where several more victims were robbed of their belongings.<\/p>\n
The gang\u2019s rampage continued into Seeta Town in Mukono, where another robbery was reported. But the chaos didn\u2019t end there. On their return to Nabweru, they struck again \u2014 this time at the busy Namanve Industrial Park along the Kampala-Jinja highway.<\/p>\n
Their crime spree, however, was interrupted by an unexpected act of community courage. A group of boda-boda riders, having witnessed one of the robberies, sprang into action. They alerted officers at the nearby Namanve Coca-Cola police post and joined them in a joint pursuit of the gang.<\/p>\n
The suspects were eventually cornered behind the KAWACOM Company premises within the industrial park. During the arrest, one of the suspects \u2014 later identified as Nsubuga \u2014 attempted to attack an officer with a panga. In response, the officer discharged his firearm, injuring Nsubuga in the waist and leg. He was later taken to a hospital for treatment.<\/p>\n
Two other suspects, identified as Asimwe Stephen (26) and Musinga Musa (22), were also apprehended. A search led to the recovery of three pangas, a motorcycle (registration UGG 597Y), and three mobile phones believed to have been stolen during the attacks.<\/p>\n
Thanks to the swift action and bravery of both the boda-boda riders and police, the gang\u2019s spree was brought to a halt. Investigations are ongoing, and the suspects are expected to face multiple charges.
