President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has praised Chief Justice Alfonse Chigamoy Owiny-Dollo for being a man of truth and unity during the difficult years of conflict in Northern Uganda. Speaking at a grand thanksgiving event in Patong Town Council, Agago District, on Sunday, the President applauded the Chief Justice for standing firm against lies and hate that once threatened to divide the country.<\/p>\n
The thanksgiving ceremony drew thousands of people, including local residents, church leaders, and top government officials. They all came together to honor Justice Owiny-Dollo\u2019s achievements and lifelong commitment to justice, peace, and national unity.<\/p>\n
During his speech, Museveni remembered the hard times when rebel leaders like Joseph Kony and Alice Lakwena were spreading dangerous messages. These rebels claimed that the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government was against Northern Uganda. But Museveni made it clear that this was not true.<\/p>\n
\u201cKony was lying that the NRM hated Northern Uganda,\u201d Museveni said. \u201cBut Alfonse saw through the deception and chose truth over tribalism.\u201d<\/p>\n
The President praised Owiny-Dollo for not giving in to these lies, even when many others were being misled. He said that the Chief Justice\u2019s rise to the top of Uganda\u2019s judiciary was because of his honesty and refusal to promote hatred based on tribe or region.<\/p>\n
Museveni called Owiny-Dollo a trusted ally and a key figure in building a stronger and fairer Uganda. He added that the Chief Justice\u2019s leadership has helped promote peace and unity in the country, especially in areas that were once deeply affected by war.<\/p>\n
The event was not only a moment to celebrate Owiny-Dollo\u2019s personal journey, but also a reminder to all Ugandans to reject hate and work together for a better future.
