The National Resistance Movement (NRM) says it has more than enough registered voters to win the forthcoming general elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the party’s deputy Secretary General Richard Todwong, the National Electoral commission as per the update of their register has close to 17.2M voters and of these, over 11.9M are NRM members. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We have close to 3\/4 of the registered voters in Uganda because anybody who registered with us, we crosschecked your National ID number, voters registration and made sure you are a registered voter”. Said Todwong<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added ” if we are to scientifically moblise, we only moblise our party structures and we are done with the elections. So once they declare us winners please you should know the beginning of the road”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Todwong made the remarks today while handing over the party membership register to the NRM Electoral Comission at a function held at the party headquarters in Kampala today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also urged all the intending party candidates to be disciplined and avoid violence during the election process or risk disqualification. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
While receiving the register, John Alimpa Kijaaji the NRM Electoral Comission vice chairperson said with the method of voters lining up behind candidates, they expect\u00a0 to have more transparent elections which will secure them more seats in parliament in the coming National Elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Also present at the function were the NRM Vice Chairperson Northern Sam Engola, the Party\u2019s National Treasurer Rose Namayanja Nsereko, Deputy National Treasurer Jacqueline Kyatuheire, Mathias Kasamba (Director- Mobilisation), Emmanuel Dombo (Director-Information) Hajat Medina Naham (Director -Finance & Administration), NRM EC Commissioner Jane Alisemeera, Zonal Coordinators among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Last week, the party released its 2020-21 electoral Road map to kick start activities ahead of the Nation General Elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The NRM will on Thursday this week hold elections for leaders of people with disabilities, older persons and the youth in all the 68,740 villages across the country.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
