He\u2019s not just running for office he\u2019s stepping up to stand with, speak for, and uplift the youth of Eastern Uganda. As a candidate for Youth Member of Parliament, Mawerere brings more than ambition he brings lived experience, leadership, and vision.<\/p>\n
Born and raised in Kamuli District, Mawerere understands firsthand the struggles many young Ugandans face. His education journey took him from Bupadhengo Primary School to Merryland High School Entebbe, then Hilton High School Mukono, and finally to Makerere University, where he studied Community Psychology and Mental Health. His academic path was shaped by perseverance and a desire to help others\u2014especially youth facing mental health issues, a topic that is still widely misunderstood and neglected in many leadership spaces.<\/p>\n
Mawerere is not new to responsibility. He has already proven himself in business and public service. As the Managing Director of Miles Funeral Services, he leads a company that brings dignity to grieving families while creating employment for young people. As a coffee and livestock farmer, he uses agriculture as a tool for empowerment\u2014showing young people that self-reliance and innovation can go hand-in-hand.<\/p>\n
In 2022\u20132023, he served as Executive Assistant to the Managing Director of Uganda Railways Corporation, gaining valuable insights into how government institutions operate. But rather than stay in a comfortable role, he chose to step down and return to the community where he could work directly with people, grow businesses, and advocate for young voices that are too often left out of national conversations.<\/p>\n
Mawerere\u2019s campaign is driven by the real needs of youth across the region. His priorities include expanding access to education and skills training, supporting youth-led enterprises, creating job opportunities through agriculture and innovation, improving mental health awareness, and ensuring transparency in youth programs. His leadership style is grounded in action, not promises.<\/p>\n
> \u201cThe youth of Eastern Uganda don\u2019t need another politician. They need a fighter, a builder, and a voice that won\u2019t be silenced,\u201d Mawerere says.<\/p>\n
What sets him apart is his authenticity. He is part of the very communities he serves. He knows the language, the hardships, the dreams\u2014and he listens. Whether it\u2019s a student trying to stay in school, a jobless graduate, or a young entrepreneur with no startup support, Mawerere sees them not as statistics, but as the future of Uganda.<\/p>\n
He is not running for fame or titles. He is running so that others\u2014especially young people\u2014can be seen, heard, and empowered.<\/p>\n
