The suspect, whose name has not been shared in the URA alert, was found guilty of impersonating a high-ranking government official in an attempt to deceive the public and commit fraud.<\/p>\n<p>According to the URA, the impostor used fake credentials and claimed he had powers to influence job offers, clear tax issues, and make decisions on behalf of the Commissioner General. Some unsuspecting people were tricked into giving him money, thinking they were dealing with a real top URA official. This scam not only hurt innocent people but also damaged the image of the URA.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to a swift investigation and legal action, the man was arrested, tried, and sentenced by the Anti-Corruption Court. The URA welcomed the court\u2019s decision, saying it sends a clear message to all fraudsters that crime does not pay. They also warned the public to be extra careful when dealing with anyone claiming to work for the URA, especially those who demand money in exchange for favors.<\/p>\n<p>The URA encouraged people to always verify identities of officials and report suspicious individuals immediately. They reminded the public that official communication and services are provided free of corruption, through proper channels. Anyone caught impersonating a government official will face the full force of the law.<\/p>\n<p>This case shows how seriously the Ugandan government is taking the fight against corruption and fraud.
