Nyendo-Mukungwe MP and former Leader of the Opposition, Hon. Mathias Mpuuga, has disclosed that he had developed a detailed legal strategy to counter the controversial UPDF Amendment Bill from within Parliament before the Opposition staged a walkout.<\/p>\n
In a recent statement following the protest, Mpuuga revealed that he had prepared comprehensive legal memoranda designed to persuade fellow legislators to reconsider key elements of the bill.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe had written legal memoranda that we believed would open MPs\u2019 eyes to the dangers within the UPDF Amendment Bill,\u201d Mpuuga said.<\/p>\n
He explained that the documents weren\u2019t just standard notes, but in-depth, well-researched legal arguments intended to expose what he described as clauses that risked expanding the military\u2019s reach beyond constitutional boundaries.<\/p>\n
Mpuuga had hoped these memos would spark meaningful debate and sway undecided Members of Parliament.<\/p>\n
