Shock and grief have swept through Akatooma Cell in Bwizibwera-Rutooma Town Council, Mbarara District, after 30-year-old Ritah Akakunda was found brutally murdered in her home.<\/p>\n
According to residents and initial police reports, Ritah was at home with her sister-in-law, Winnie Kabaare, and the family\u2019s shamba boy. Her husband, Fred Kabaare, had left earlier in the day for work in nearby Bwizibwera town. It was during his absence that the terrible crime unfolded.<\/p>\n
Police arrived at the scene with a sniffer dog to assist in investigations that led them to the home of the shamba boy. After assessing the scene and questioning those present, authorities arrested both Winnie Kabaare and the shamba boy. They are now being held in custody to help with further investigations.<\/p>\n
What has shocked many even more is the emerging allegation that the shamba boy was paid just UGX 100,000 (about $26) to carry out the murder. If true, this revelation adds a chilling layer to what was already a deeply disturbing case.<\/p>\n
Ritah’s body was taken to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital for a postmortem examination as police continue with inquiries. Meanwhile, the community is still in disbelief, with many struggling to understand how such a horrifying act could happen in their neighborhood.<\/p>\n
Police have assured the public that investigations are ongoing and that justice will be pursued swiftly. As more details emerge, residents and family members are calling for the harshest punishment for those involved.<\/p>\n
