Buyaga East MP Musana has joined the battlefield for the deputy speaker race seeking to replace incumbent Jacob Oulayah.
Oulayah is also in a race to succeed Rebecca Kadaga who is the current speaker of Parliament.
Musana launched his bid yesterday in a press conference where he said he wants to make parliament and its processes more open to the public.
Musana will have to face off with fellow NRM members, Anita Among, Jacob Oboth-Oboth, Thomas Tayebwa, Robinah Rwakoojo an Theodore Ssekikuubo.
If endorsed by the NRM’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) and the parliamentary caucus, Musana will also have to face competition from Forum for Democratic Change Yusuf Nsibambi, the MP-elect for Mawokota.
Elections for the Speaker and Deputy are expected to be held at Kololo Independence Grounds during the first sitting after MPs are sworn in between May 17 and 20, 2021.
